Who We Are
Founded by Peter Spendiff and Kathy Wood, Spendwood opened in 1964 at 88 Remsen Street in Cohoes, NY. They operated what was known as the Spendwood Circuit, traveling to various locations in Round Lake, Cambridge, Melrose, to name a few, to teach classes on a weekly basis. Current owners Margie (Spendiff) Pascale and Ralph Pascale took over in 1974 and operated out of the Knights of Columbus on 3rd Street in Waterford. Throughout the years, Spendwood has also been housed in three locations (3rd Street, Broad Street, and Saratoga Ave) in Waterford prior to moving to its current location in 2000.

Classically trained at Boston Conservatory, Margie has infused her passion and enthusiasm into the studio for nearly 60 years (which is impressive, considering she's only 29).

Coming to Spendwood in 2013, Managing Director Jillian Ruddy has infused life, passion, and energy into Spendwood School of Dance. Miss Jillian has been dancing and coaching for over 30 years, in a wide variety of styles including but not limited to ballet, pointe, hip hop, jazz, tap, lyrical, and competitive cheer, all while managing the computer system, the class rosters, staff coverage, competition team, and her own four children, all of whom shine at Spendwood.
