Dance Competition Team

2021-2022 was the inaugural year for the Spendwood Competition Team. The team was comprised of 18 dances, ages 7-19, who competed in 3 competitions with jazz, lyrical, and tap dances in solo, duet, trio, and small group categories. This incredible group won a multitude of awards, far surpassing everyone's expectations in our debut year. Our team has nearly doubled in size for the 2022-2023 season, with 35 dancers, ages 5 through 18. Competition season begins March 17, 2023 with Turn It Up, Albany.

Being a member of the competition team requires a significant time and financial commitment, outside of the expectation of typical recreational classes. Acceptance to the team is based upon multiple factors, including but not limited to minimum technique requirements for the age level and performance during audition classes. The team roster is up to the discretion of the Competition Coaches, Miss Jillian and Miss Marin.

Being a part of a competitive team requires participation in fundraising to help defray costs of the competition fees and costumes. Each dancer is responsible for choreography costs and travel costs. Attendance at all rehearsals and competitions is mandatory for all members of the team, even if you are not competing on that day. Dancers and parents are held to high standards in representing the studio and as such, sign a behavior and expectations contract. We are a team and we support each other in a positive atmosphere.
